Application areas

Human hygiene biocidal products are products used for human hygiene purposes. They are mainly used in the public health service sector, private medical and dental clinics, nursing homes, the food processing industry and other food processing areas related to the care, examination and treatment of patients. A limited number of products are used in private homes and workplaces to prevent contamination and prevent infections due to cuts, scrapes and similar reasons.

The product type includes the following products:

• Hand disinfectants, disinfectant soap, antiseptic soap, antibacterial or antimicrobial soap, antibacterial or antimicrobial cleaning gel, antibacterial or antimicrobial cleaning solution;
• Towels renewed with the claim of general disinfection;
• Detergents and cleaning products intended to have biocidal activity (including auxiliary aids for washing processes such as fabric softeners) (reliably control microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria)
• Disinfectant mouth solution, antiseptic mouth solution (no therapeutic claim)
Biocides in cosmetic products and especially in products for medical purposes are excluded.

Skin antiseptics are used both privately and professionally (in hospitals). Some skin antiseptics, such as bath products, are applied and used in a very short time. Other skin antiseptics can stay on human skin longer after application.

The products are applied as solutions, soaps, creams, gels, lotions and aerosols. Products for skin disinfection can be sold in the form of liquids, gels and powders used for washing or topical skin application.
