Product Type 15: Avicides
Avicides are found in food stores, bakeries, etc., which can be a nuisance or disease vector. Includes products used for bird control.
The terms of use of avicides used in bird control may differ from country to country. In Germany, Denmark, Finland and Austria national laws do not allow the use of any biocidal product to control birds. Avicides are used in Sweden and Italy, France and England.
Human and Environmental Exposure
The use of substances in Product Type 15 should be characterized as dispersant, although a few application cases are believed to be carried out by trained professional users. In outdoor use conditions, residues of applied products may not be able to be re-collected for disposal/disposal, but will remain in the terrestrial environment.
The intended toxicity of the avicides to a group of vertebrates means that the active ingredients in Product Type 15 can also be assumed to have significant acute toxicity to humans and non-target land mammals. However, only two substances have been reported and only one has moderate toxicity. No information on aquatic toxicity was obtained.
Overall, the risk to humans and the environment from the use of Product Type 15 substances is considered to be low to moderate, due to the very low total tonnage and few use cases involving professional users only.
