Antimicrobial Activity Determination Tests in Textile Products
“ISO 20743: Textile - Determination of antibacterial activity in antibacterial finished fabrics” standard covers the effectiveness tests of antibacterial treated textile products such as fabric and yarn. In particular, textile products are products that have suitable conditions in terms of bacterial growth according to the areas they are used or their structures. For this reason, textile products with antibacterial properties have started to be produced especially in recent years. The use of antibacterial fabrics in home textiles and children's products and hospital textiles has been increasing in recent years. Within the scope of ISO 20743 standard, antibacterial tests are carried out in textile products with 3 different methods. Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae strains are used within the scope of test methods.
The vaccination test methods in the ISO 20743 standard are as follows:
- Absorption Method
- Transfer Method
- Printing Method
After the above vaccination methods, the antibacterial properties of textile products can be determined by colony plate count and luminescence methods.
