EN 16615
The EN 16615 standard includes a test method used to determine the bactericidal and fungicidal performance of wipes used in medical fields and treated with chemical disinfectants.Antiseptic and chemical disinfectant applied wipes are generally used in environments such as hospitals, public health institutions, dental clinics, schools, kindergartens and nursing home dispensaries. These products must therefore meet their usage claims.
It is desired that the wipes with chemical disinfectants show bactericidal and fungicidal activity in non-porous environments by applying mechanical movements. Especially due to the areas in which they are used, wipes with chemical disinfectants should be tested within the scope of EN 16615 standard and should prove their performance.
Within the scope of EN 16615 standard, 4 samples prepared are tested in the presence of the following microorganisms.
- Enterococcus hirae
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Staphylococcus aureus
It is based on the determination of how much the microorganism load decreases during the 1, 5, 10, 15 minute test period.
Wipes with chemical disinfectants are expected to have an effect of 99.99% on bacteria and fungi.
