Ethyl acetate is a clear and colorless solvent with a moderately polar, slightly fruity odour. Ethyl acetate is also known as ethyl ethanoate. It is generally used in nail polish, nail polish remover and various nail care products. Ethyl acetate, which is cost-effective and very effective, is also used in the pharmaceutical sector and industrial area, apart from the cosmetic sector.

Ethyl acetate is used in nail polish to thin and dissolve film-forming substances such as nitrocellulose. It is also used as a gelling agent in perfumes. It is also used in products such as mascara and teeth whitening.

The reasons for using ethyl acetate in perfumes are as follows:

• It can be used for perfume scent thanks to its sweet and fruity scent.
• As it can evaporate on the skin, it allows the fragrance of the perfume to remain on the skin without leaving a bad residue.

Ethyl acetate has no known significant side effects. However, high exposures can be dangerous for the respiratory system. May cause skin irritation with direct use.
