EN 1276
The EN 1276 standard includes a test method (Phase 2 Step 1) for detecting bactericidal activity in chemical disinfectant and antiseptic products. This test method can be used in disinfectants and antiseptics that are used in the food industry, households and establishments and that are homogeneous and physically stable in hard water. The EN 1276 standard covers products used in living tissues, excluding hand hygiene.A product or active substance must show a decrease of at least 5 decimal log (lg) against each test organism.
Bacteria used in the analysis process:
• Pseudomonas aeruginosa (DSM 939)
• Escherichia coli (NCTC 10418)
• Staphylococcus aureus (NCTC 10788)
• Enterococcus hirae (DSM 3320)
Thus, at the end of the test, it can be determined whether it has bactericidal activity against all reference strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus hirae.
