Evaluation of Sporicidal Activity in Biocidal Products
Sporicidal activity; It is defined as the capacity of a product or active substance to produce a reduction in the number of viable bacterial spores of the relevant test organisms under defined conditions.Sporicidal testing in disinfectants is important in critical areas such as the medical field and food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas. Sporicidal tests are carried out in biocidal products according to EN 13704 and EN 14347 standards.
While evaluating the effectiveness of biocidal products, microorganisms specified in the relevant standards are used. The spore activity of a biocidal product is evident in Bacillus species, particularly B. subtilis spores.
Detection of sporicidal activity in biocidal products is an important step first for licensing procedures and then for determining the sporicidal claim of the product.
